Is your vision compromised?
If you are concerned about eye flashes and floaters, then get in touch with Viewpoint Vision Services Ltd in St Helens. Book an appointment with one of the experienced specialists at our independent eye clinic by giving us a call.
Although they are distracting, floaters are not always something to worry about. It is however best to check it out with us and they sometimes can indicate a more serious condition.
Eye flashes and floaters
These are small bits of debris in the eye’s vitreous humour. The debris casts shadows onto your retina, and you may see these shadows “floating” across your field of vision.
Fibrous strand floater
This is most common in young people and is the result of slumping of collagen fibres. It may be treated with vitreolysis.
Diffuse floater
This is a cloud-like floater which is caused by the natural ageing process. It may be treated with vitreolysis or need additional treatments
Weiss ring floater
This is a large ring-shaped floater. It normally occurs in a location which can be safely treated with vitreolysis.
Some of our other treatments

Keratoconus
Keratoconus is a degenerative disorder of the eye in which structural changes within the cornea cause it to thin and change to a more conical shape than its normal gradual curve.
