Brow ptosis treatment for droopy eyelids
When the eyebrow droops, it crowds eyelid skin down over the upper eyelid and eyelashes causing hooding and a tired look. When severe enough it can obstruct the peripheral vision. Brow ptosis is usually caused by ageing, however sometimes it can be a result of other conditions such as facial palsy or trauma. Eyebrow ptosis is especially common in men and a frequent cause for hooded eyelids.
The severity of the condition varies from person to person, but typically patients experience
the following symptoms:
-
Finding it difficult to keep eyelids open
-
Manually lifting the eyelid when reading, driving or watching TV
-
Eye strain, especially when reading
-
Eyebrow ache, headache and forehead wrinkles as a result of the effort required to raise the eyebrows and eyelids

About our brown ptosis treatment
About eyelid lift surgery
Eyelid lift surgery itself (blepharoplasty) will not elevate a drooping brow or remove wrinkles in the crow’s feet area. For some people a brow lift may be more appropriate, instead of, or in addition to eyelid lift surgery. In some people droopy eyebrows are accompanied by excess skin on the eyelids. Additional upper lids blepharoplasty may be suggested to accomplish optimal results.
Expert care
Your eyelid lift surgery will be performed by Miss Kovacova, who is an expert in this procedure. Miss Kovacova offers correction of brow ptosis through incisions directly above the brows. This surgery is called a direct brow lift and offers more lasting results compared to other approaches, e.g. endoscopic brow lift.
Treatment and recovery
Direct brow surgery is performed under a local or twilight anaesthetic and it is a day case procedure. Recovery time is about 2 weeks, during this period you will have skin sutures placed just above your eyebrow, some swelling and light bruising of your periocular area. Sutures are removed 2 weeks after the surgery.
